Carnival/Gestation of a freak
mixed medium on paper 22/30 and soft sculpture instillation
This group of work depicts the gestation of a freak (Carnival show). The drawings portray birth defects such as Siamese twins, club foot, dwarfism, cerebral palsy, Thalidomide babies, spina bifida, Minamata disease as well as conception and birth. Also included in this show is a corresponding instillation of carnival freaks that I made from dolls, stuffed animals etc. This work utilized both humor and tragedy (respectfully), to engage the viewer.
