“Carousel Ride” was created while exploring three-dimensional pop up book art. I chose the accordion book style because it offers a familial substrate. Its construction results in quadrants resembling rooms of a home, connected but separate. The imagery was gathered from my drawer of set aside photographs as well as images cut from my childhood coloring book from the 60s. The quadrants encapsulate memories that linger into the present, beckoning the viewer into its awkward, dreamlike narrative.
